The Basics of Search Engine Optimization: Use Your Images Wisely

Did you know that you can add additional information to the images you post in your blog or website? Images have distinct file names and “alt attributes,” and it makes sense to take advantage of these things for your website.

There are several reasons to use these features.

1) If the person viewing your site is using a browser that doesn’t support images, the alt attribute contents provide information about the picture.

2) It makes it easier for image search projects like Google Image Search to better understand your images.

3) If the image you’re using is a link, the alt text for that image will be treated similarly to the anchor text of a text link.

So make sure when you are adding images to your website, you are optimizing those images to make those images work for you.
