How do you foster a conversation in social media?

When you have decided on a social media strategy, one of the things you need to consider is how you will foster a conversation in social media.
It’s important to build and maintain quality followers, and the way to do that is to have something interesting to say to the people you want to attract. You need to be relevant to what they are looking for, and that means you need to understand them, and what they are looking for.
But it can’t just be one-way. You don’t want to shout into the void and not get anything back.
You will have to respond to questions.
Sites like Twitter really lend themselves to conversations and using hash-tags, you are able to track what people are saying about you, positive and negative. It’s also important to remember not to shut out or ignore negative conversation. Think of it as constructive criticism. It’s an opportunity for you to address your customer’s concerns, rectify them, and improve your business.
