If a SEO practitioner promises you number one search engine rankings right away, you should be wary. Nobody can make guarantees on your page rank, and the SEO game changes almost daily, because of the changing nature of search engine algorithms. If someone makes those kinds of promises, they either don’t know what they are talking about or they are engaging in negative practices that will reflect poorly on your site in the long term.
If you stick to the techniques that bring in quality in-bound links and guarantee positive word-of-mouth, like consistently publishing good, quality content and spending time on relevant social media and forum sites, participating actively in a community of people who will be interested in your content, your search engine rankings will improve in a way that might not be as dramatic as engaging in negative techniques, but will have a more lasting impact. By being consistent, with both quality and reliability, you will gain a positive reputation that will ensure positive word-of-mouth and long-term, lasting results.
