Gah. How often have you heard THAT phrase tossed around as you shop around for a SEO consultant?
They use that as a badge of honor, as a certificate of how “good they really are” at SEO. All designed to inflate you with undoubted AWE and infuse you with confidence at their amazing-unmatched SEO skills… so you’d take out your wallet and hire them on the spot.
Here’s the thing though… how many of these so-called SEO consultants OWN Google? How many of them have direct access to tinker with Google’s algorithm? To move the rankings around?
NONE OF THEM.
That’s right, not a single “SEO consultant” owns Google, therefore, they are at the mercy of Google! They can’t tell Google what to do and what to rank any more than they can stop the sun from rising tomorrow!
In other words, SEO consultants can’t guarantee jack sh*t. And true legit consultants will own up to that and tell you as much.
Another way to look at it… what if the competitor hires ANOTHER firm and pays them MORE money and invests more heavily in their SEO? Now you have an ongoing battle where it becomes a balance of who’s willing to invest more (all else being equal such as the skill level of the SEO consultants involved). Then what?
It’s only the charlatans who will tell you these B.S. lies and make these outrageous claims they can’t back up… just to get your money.
So next time you hear a consultant make a lame guarantee like this, run the other way. And run quickly.
